Ok, so do you want an exercise that won’t cost you anything, is easy, fits into your daily routine, and gets you toned?
Of course, you do; have you guessed what it is yet? Well, it’s not rocket science, and it’s possibly one of the fitness world’s greatest yet obvious secrets!
HERE’S THE BIG REVEAL, and yes, you heard it here 1st on OCM, wait for it, yes it’s called WALKING. And it’s the latest fitness phenomenon.
A numerous amount of studies have recently reported the benefits of going for a brisk walk daily. So we asked our in-house Wellbeing guru Jason, what his take on walking was?
Here’s what he had to say…
Walking at a good pace for at least 15 minutes day is a quick and easy way to get fit, and won’t cost you a princely sum for a gym membership. All it will cost you is the price of a decent pair of trainers. Oh, and another top tip is to get a pedometer, or one of those fancy Iwatches, we humans love goals!
Over time (I’d say initially four weeks) your body will firm up and get more toned. Walking is also one of the best and easiest ways to burn fat (especially your belly fat). If you’re concerned about your blood pressure, or possibly on the brink of being diabetic, walking is most certainly an option for you. And unlike some other forms of training, walking will most likely keep you injury free.
Also, as some of you Mom’s may know, and to put it politely; during pregnancy, you may not be as regular as normal (as I am now fully aware of, as my wife is pregnant) walking is a great way to promote more gastric mobility.
Finally, walking outside also has therapeutic benefits, and studies have shown that people who walk outside, feel more relaxed, think more effectively, creatively, and positively.
Overall walking is an all round excellent Wellbeing option for both body and mind. Seriously, there is no excuse not to go for a brisk walk. Walk the dog or get the kids involved, but most important make sure it’s every day.
