Isabella Rossellini; filmmaker, author, philanthropist, and model, has been catapulted back into recent news headlines, as Luxury French cosmetic house Lancome, have invited her back to be their face of Renergie Glow, a facecream aimed at the over 60’s. A marked turnaround for Lancome, as they dismissed her in 1995 from being the face of Lancome, for being too old at the tender age of 43.
Born in Rome on June 18th, 1952 to Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and Italian Film Director Roberto Rossellini. Isabella, grew up in Rome and Santa Marinella, Paris together with her twin sister and brothers. Isabella, a former Vogue model, celebrates her 66th birthday this month.
She had a happy childhood until aged 11 when she was diagnosed with scoliosis. A painful 18-months of treatment followed. She bears the incision scars on her back and shins still, but this has never held her back.
She remains close to her sister although their lives have followed a very different direction. Isotta Ingrid Rosellini is a Professor of Italian Literature, while Isabella is now a well known human rights activist.
You can be assured her timeless beauty is natural; Botox completely goes against her healthy, organic lifestyle, and because of her deep-seated fear of operations, cosmetic surgery has never been a consideration.
And what for the future? The actress has recently become a Grandma for the first time to daughter Elettra and spends her time campaigning between gender equality, UNICEF, funding training for Guide Dogs for the Blind to name just a few.
A woman of our times and an inspiration to us all.
