OneChicMom’s World Cup Survival Guide

World Cup fever is building, but some (most) of us girls can’t get, shall we say, as excited about it as a lot of our menfolk. So girls here are a few ideas to keep us smiling while goggle-eyed at the TV with their beer cans and giant pizza slices.

Spa Day

You can’t go wrong with a Spa day. If you’d like a spa one that’s a little bit different, have a look at Center Parcs. Their Aquasana days start at only £79 per person. With refreshments and a glass of bubbly on arrival, complimentary towel and robe hire and a wide range of experiences, r&r is a guarantee.

Afternoon Tea

For the more refined, how about that Afternoon Tea you’ve always wanted to try at your local hotel. Indulge in your favourite sandwich, and cream scone washed down with a pot of Darjeeling and a glass of champagne

Claridges London hosts an amazing Champagne Afternoon tea, starting at £70 per person, the best I’ve had to be honest, but if London isn’t local, check out your local hotels or restaurants.

Beautiful Gardens

Post-Chelsea tries visiting one of these many glamorous gardens around the country while they’re in full glorious bloom. You may even surprise yourself with how interesting, and contemporary some of the more famous locations are. Chatsworth, Hampton Court, Castle Howard. Check the RHS website for one near you.

A Movie

Is the cinema showing your favourite chick flick? Hook up with a friend or go solo and enjoy in peace. If not get a DVD or your favourite box set in a room with a 2nd TV, close the curtains, put on your luxury PJ’s get the popcorn, a glass of something chilled and relax.

The Theatre

It could be time to take that trip to the theatre to see that musical everyone’s talking about. Look up your local theatre group you may be surprised at the quality and value, as well as being more accessible than the West End shows.

……..and if none of that appeals you can’t go wrong with a bit of retail therapy, now is the time to shop till you drop ladies. If your partner is like mine, he hates shopping anyway, the only problem is who will carry the bags?……….
