Until the fabulous news of the royal engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, we didn’t know much about this beautiful woman; our new Duchess of Sussex. There is no doubt that at first sight, Meghan Markle is an attractive and super stylish woman. She oozes everything that we love and represent here at OneChicMom.
The Earlier Years
Born in Los Angeles, California in 1981, Meghan was privately educated through her childhood. She then went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre studies, to pursue her career as an actress.
She is a self-made success story that has worked hard for a career in acting. In the early days however, Meghan struggled to get film and television roles claiming, ‘I wasn’t black enough for the black roles and I wasn’t white enough for the white ones.’ However, this did not stop Megan. She landed various small roles in films and series until her big break came with her role as Rachel Zane in ‘Suits’.
After finishing the seventh series last year, Meghan decided to leave her role as Rachel and her acting career altogether. We are sure that becoming a Royal is keeping her busy enough, especially with her commitments to various charities supporting gender equality and putting a stop to modern day slavery. In 2015, she made a powerful speech for the Women’s U.N conference where she refers to a very dated advertisement that inspired her pro-active approach to gender.
Meghan Markle The Royal Wedding
The Wedding ceremony between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took place on Saturday 19th May, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. The leading lady looked fabulous in a dress by Claire Waight Keller for Givenchy, followed by a gorgeous evening gown by Stella McCartney for the after party.
The Veil; a masterpiece in its own right at 5 metres in length, with embroidered flowers representing the 53 Commonwealth countries wowed guests and spectators.
Meghan’s bouquet contained flowers chosen largely by her husband in honour of the late Diana. Forget-me-nots, scented sweet peas, astilbe, jasmine and the Royal wedding tradition; little sprigs of myrtle.
The Royal wedding brought crowds of tourists from all over. Brits celebrated with street parties and bbq‘s. Worldwide viewers tuned into to this spectacular event to bookmark this fabulous occasion in British history.
Trooping of the Colour
Princess Meghan seems to be the word on everyone’s lips since the wedding. She certainly has become a fast favourite of the royals. Stepping out at the Queens ‘Trooping of the colour’, in a nude-blush, slightly controversial off the shoulder outfit designed by Carolina Herrera. We can all admit to her looking fantastic when wearing this look.
