We all need a quiet night in from time to time, and after the hustle and bustle of the last few days, it’s on my agenda tonight. If you are going to stay in, then why not do it with a bit of style. The perfect quiet night in takes a little planning, but nothing too complicated. If you are used to the quiet night in, then you will already have a lot of the little extras that will make this night perfect; candles, bath oils, cosy lounge-wear and just the right food for the occasion.
Quiet Night In – The Food
Think upmarket but straightforward. Posh picnic fayre is perfect for the Friday night at home. Roast chicken, Parma ham, a posh salad with organic boiled eggs and crunchy croutons. Serve with a choice of delicious salad dressings and homemade dips. Set out so everyone can help themselves throughout the evening. For dessert, maybe a traditional cheesecake and a fresh fruit salad. Or if you are feeling particularly indulgent, you favourite ice cream eaten straight from the tub …. Yummy. Buy a bottle of your favourite wine, or if you abstain, maybe a delicious smoothie or specialist tea.
What to Wear
It’s time to dig out your best lounge-wear ladies. If your nightwear drawer is looking a bit bleak, it’s time to invest in some luxury lounge-wear, not for anyone else either, just for you. Let’s be honest we should sleep for 8 hours every night, so you wear your pj’s for nearly as long as you wear your clothes, so definitely worth a little investment. The White Company do some fabulous lounge-wear that’s worth a look.
What to Do
Whether you like to have a long soak in the bath with your favourite bath salts, a good book and a cheeky glass of wine, or cuddle up in front of the sofa to watch a feel-good movie? The choice is yours, as long as you get to relax and enjoy some downtime.
My favourite is to snuggle down and watch a box set …. Sex & the City, Grace & Frankie, as long as it leaves a good feeling, it’s worth a go.
Round you quiet night in off with an early-ish night, so you wake up the following day feeling refreshed.
