Ok, let’s be honest, how many times do you really love the fact that you are simply you? Learning to accept who you are, and that it’s ok to be the best version of yourself, can sometimes be a tough one.
We live in an age where people portray a perfect existence through social media. Hair, nails and body are always flawless. They have the immaculate house and the perfect family life. Despite knowing that this is not a true reflection of how life normally is, we still strive for this unobtainable perfection.
Build Your Confidence
It’s sometimes hard to accept that you are supposed to be you. If you are looking to improve yourself, then you are simply looking to be the best version of yourself, not a replica of someone else. You are not supposed to look like a supermodel or sing like Lady Gaga, simply be the best version of yourself. I know how difficult it can be. I work with a coach weekly to work on self improvement and confidence.
I’m nowhere near perfect. I work too many hours, I procrastinate too much, I need to lose weight, and I don’t spend any time on myself. I was horrified to spot I had cultivated a small moustache last week, seriously there is a salon two minutes from work. To be honest I don’t know what shocked me more? The moustache, the fact that no-one had alerted me to it, or the fact I really didn’t care.
There will always be Haters
There is always someone to put us down for who we are. Friends, family, strangers, the list of people is endless. Stop accepting this and love yourself for who you are.
If you decide to go down the route of pleasing others, you never will. Be honest with yourself, why waste the energy.
The World is full of like-minded people, who are a pleasure to be around. Leave the other guys to themselves; their opinions say more about them than they do about you. Seriously haters will be haters regardless of what you do. The first self-improvement tip is to learn to love yourself and be your biggest fan. You wouldn’t put others down, so why put yourself down?
Instead of beating yourself up at the end of each day with what you haven’t done, tell yourself how amazing you are for what you have achieved. It will help build your self confidence. It will feel a little odd at first but stick with it, and it will become easier. We all have unique talents, learn to recognise your own.
