Coastal Living Inspiration for the Home

by SAM PHIPPS

For those who are not able to go on holiday this year, why not bring some coastal living to your own home. You could run this through the whole house or just contain it to one room. Whilst I live in Derbyshire, quite away from the sea, my bathroom is a coastal-inspired room. It has a nautical Fishermans light, coastal prints, and tiled in traditional blue and white for a simple Coastal theme. It doesn’t have to break the budget and can be as much or as little as you wish.

Beach Inspiration

Even a day at the beach can be inspiring, by collecting sea glass or shells and displaying them in an old jar. Simple but effective. I’m not sure I would wish to reinvent the sand in a jar I remember from my childhood but I still enjoy searching for sea glass on the beach with the kids.

Coastal living has an air of calm and tranquillity. The basics of Coastal living is a cream and blue palette, mixed with pale furniture and will give light to any room. Then all you need to do is add the accessories. Take a simple Navy or Cream sofa and add some striped or nautical designed cushions and lots of throws. The paired down look gives clean lines and a simple finish whilst still remaining cosy.

There are many fantastic shops selling Coastal inspired Decor and we have featured some on them below to give you some inspiration. We hope that despite not being able to have your usual summer holiday you can still enjoy some Coastal inspired living.
