Holiday in the UK and leave your passports at home

by SAM PHIPPS

Sadly I never got to pack my suitcase and jet off to the sun. Coronavirus decided that it was not safe to go ahead and so our plans are on hold until 2021.

However, I am still keeping everything crossed for our annual trip to Cornwall. I don’t know what it is about the beautiful Cornish coast but I’m sure it is in my blood. I really would be devastated if lockdown is reinforced and we are restricted from traveling.

Do you have a place that you love?

I think I may share my passion for Cornwall with several thousands of people. I’m pretty certain that some of them share my love for an iconic stripy Cornish brand too.

For me, I love everything that Cornwall has to offer, the beautiful beaches, the Cornish cream tea, the nautical shops, and who could refuse a Cornish pasty. I never thought I would be a person to return year after year to the same place but we have now been traveling to Cornwall for 16 years and I still love it.

Of course, there are many stunning destinations to visit in the Uk. Maybe Coronavirus has helped us to realize the beauty that’s right under our noses. Whether that’s the highlands, Peaks, and National Parks or the coast. The Uk economy will be grateful for your visit.

Something that I have noticed when holidaying in the Uk is that I have a go-to packing regime. Regardless of the weather, I fill my case with shorts, t-shirts, jumpers, flip flops, and a very good waterproof coat. It wouldn’t be unusual to be on a beach in swimwear whilst wearing a bobble hat.

As the Uk weather is so unpredictable you may feel like you are packing for all seasons. At least you can leave behind those passports, travel plugs, and inflatables – you wont be needing them.

One thing I love about holidaying in the Uk is that all my favourite brands are there.. brands like Crew Clothing, joules, jack wills and Seasalt are a personal highlight.

I also love to bring back a little bit of Cornish decor and generally a coastal print from Whistlefish finds its way home with us. On our return home I like to dot my holiday finds around the house as a reminder of our lovely family holiday.

Maybe you have a place that you visit every year or have decided that due to lockdown you are staying closer to home.

I am pretty sure that the weather will be unpredictable but the hospitality will be warm and the memories made will be treasured.
