Life’s Simple Pleasures – Go on a Picnic

by OneChicMom

We are officially year-round picnickers. Whether it’s a full day out with a carefully prepped delicious picnic fayre and park games, to a flask of hot chocolate and a couple of homemade cookies on a morning dog walk, nothing beats eating al fresco.

With a good few weeks left of Summer, who need any excuse to pack up a few culinary goodies and head off outside.

I am super lucky to have a gorgeous Joules wicker picnic basket, complete with the chairs, cool bags, and the rug to throw out on the grass. I love attention to detail, so having the right picnic accessories is essential for our picnics. Looked after properly these good quality picnic items will last for years and years.

When it comes to picnic fayre, my top tip is to keep it simple:-

            • Large crisp fresh salad, keep the dressing in a separate container, no-one likes soggy salad leaves.
            • Roast chicken, hard boiled salad eggs, cold cuts such as ham and beef slices.
            • Good quality pork pie.
            • Fresh crusty baguettes and butter.
            • A cheeky bottle of your favourite wine.
            • Slices of Melon and a fruit salad made with bite-sized fruit.
            • A simple homemade Victoria Sandwich sponge cake for dessert.
            • Don’t forget the Eco-friendly bin liners for clearing away all your rubbish before you come home.

Joules have a sale on at the moment and their four person wicker picnic hamper is less than half price. They are still in stock, so snap one up this Tweed Basket quickly, while you can.
